African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME) is a Kampala-based independent, non-profit professional organisation that is committed to excellence in journalism and mass communication in Africa. It was established in 2009 and currently has a staff of 15. The organisation’s goal is to make media an effective platform for the provision of information on public affairs and a forum for public debate, and to provide tools for monitoring official power and forums for vibrant public debate. ACME employs a long-term approach in which practical training workshops are complemented by mentoring and coaching over a period of several months.
